Local CL add has been up for over a month for a set of Altec 934 loaded with 904-8A duplex speakers for 300 bucks.
I called him when I first saw the add and he said that one would need a new cone. Ran all the numbers in my head and figured I'd have to much into them by the time I was done converting them to 604 type. Besides, I really don't have room for huge enclosures that these would need.
Then I notice them at 200 bucks, still not to interested, that was yesterday. Today he was down to 125! I call him up and he tells me that he just gave the cabinets away but I can have the speakers and crossovers for 100 bucks!
Needless to say I jumped into my truck and picked them up. It was a musician studio over in Philly and I was parked blocking other cars due to the storm yesterday. So I was in a bit of a hurry and left the crossovers there. He knows and I'll run back to grab them.
I see that Ron has run them in 2.5ft cubed boxes with the stock cones and good diaphragms-no loading cap. Uses a sub. Now that I could do.
So now I have another project for down the road.
BTW, looks like the cone is separated from the front spider just under the Mantaray horn. Could that be the cause of the rubbing?
